I have been on vacation this last week with my daughter for spring break and have not had a chance to update. I postponed the workout for one week due to this and have therefore had nothing of substance to report. I will begin my working out again on Monday morning and will get back on the stick. I am looking forward to keeping this journal up and to working hard to get myself a better body!

I got the latest edition of the beachbody newsletter this morning and it is all about dessert, my favorite subject. There are some really great recipes in it along with some links to other great recipes. Have a look!

The “Legs” part of Legs and Back is a bear. Whether it is the “Balance Squats”, “Wall Sits”, or “Dead Lift Squats”, this workout has your legs screaming for mercy 5 minutes in. I was not able to make it completely through this workout, but I can already tell this is going to have my legs crazy strong. What else I like about it is that it is promoting ankle strength and balance, these are all things that I need in large amounts.
Doing my back was not bad. I have a chinup bar of course, but I am still going to use the bands for awhile due to being to large and not strong enough to heft almost 300lbs up to a chinup bar. I know eventually I will be, just seems I want everything now. I can already feel the DOMS setting in from the bands workout around my shoulders, shoulder blades, and in my “wings”. This workout is going to be one of my favorites in the long run I think.
“Get ready to squat, lunge, and pull for a total-body workout like no other. While the main focus of this workout lies in strengthening and developing the leg muscles (quads, hamstrings, glutes, and calves), there’s also a handful of great pull-up exercises to give your legs a quick breather while you work the upper body.”
Posted in Workouts, Yoga X on March 11th, 2010 by Palespyder – Be the first to comment
I really struggled with the Yoga X, I have always had issues doing yoga. My biggest problem with it as of now is holding myself in downward facing dog for all that time. I am almost 300 lbs, it is not easy to hold that much weight up on my hands without falling. Then I am not even close to being flexible enough to swing my feet underneath to do the Warrior and Runner poses.
Now that the whining is over, next week I will just continue to push harder and harder until I am able to do these moves the way that Tony says they should be done. I am not naive enough to think that Yoga is not good for me, I know that more flexibility and more strength in the stabilizer muscles will be amazing for my SCA fighting.
“Yoga is a vital part of any fitness regimen, and is an absolute must for an extreme program like P90X. This routine combines strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, and breath work to enhance your physique and calm your mind. Yoga X will leave you feeling energized, invigorated, and maybe even a little enlightened.”
Posted in Ab Ripper X, Shoulders and Arms, Workouts on March 10th, 2010 by Palespyder – Be the first to comment
This workout is amazing. The sheer number of exercises you do in this excruciating hour is ridiculous. By the time the “bonus round” started my arms felt like jello. I have always liked working out my arms, but this time since I am doing the Power 90 X Lean Routine, I am using lighter weights with higher reps in a hope that I will gain some muscle stamina. For the fighting I do this will help me much more in the long run. I am planning on doing the Power 90 X Classic Routine as my second run so the Shoulder’s and Arms will always be around.
Of course Ab Ripper X is always the bane of my existence. That may be the hardest I have ever worked my abs in my entire life. The pain (It’s a good pain) in that workout is just crazy…
“Nothing rounds out the perfect physique like a pair of well-defined arms and shoulders, and with its potent combination of pressing, curling, and fly movements, this routine will leave you feeling stronger and looking sexier. Whether you want to build muscle mass or just slim and tighten what you’ve already got, these targeted shoulder and arm exercises will get you the results you want.”

I actually thought this being Cardio X would make the workout be unbearable and you would be so exhausted you would not be able to finish. I found quite the contrary, this workout is well paced and allows you to work hard without getting so winded you have to stop. I think the mixture of Kenpo, Plyo, and Yoga is a great mix and keeps me from getting bored. I think I will find my heart rate monitor and get myself really going on this one next week.
“This low-impact cardio routine can be used in a variety of ways to meet your P90X goals. Use it in addition to your standard P90X workload when you want to burn some extra calories, or as a substitute if your body needs a break from the program’s high-impact workouts. Whatever your reason for using Cardio X, you’ll find it to be a fun, full-throttle, fat burning workout that will leave you feeling lean and mean.”
Posted in Core Synergystics, Workouts on March 8th, 2010 by Palespyder – Be the first to comment
This workout makes your core feel amazing. This was day one for me and yet I was able to finish this entire workout without much problem. The workout made my core feel strong all day, I was a bit sore in the back, but that is pretty natural for me. I do not really see Core Synergystics being a huge problem for me on the Power 90 X Lean workout. I wanted to post what they say on the Beachbody Site about these workouts the first week so I can go back and look at them later on if need be.
“Each and every exercise in the Core Synergistics workout recruits multiple muscle groups to build and support the core (lumbar spine and trunk muscles), while at the same time conditioning your body from head to toe. Loaded with a variety of fun, unique, and challenging exercises, this routine will get you moving in all directions to maximize your P90X results.“
